More than 50,000 farmers have converged in Delhi under AIKSCC, will march to Parliament to submit a petition to the President

An estimated 50,000 farmers, united under All India Kisan Sngarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella body of 207 organisations of farmers and agricultural workers have converged at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi yesterday demanding a slew of things like loan waver. Today, the thousands of protesting farmers, who came from all over India, will march from Ramlila Maidan to Parliament Street striking against the poor policies of the Narendra Modi led BJP Government and they have plans to submit a memorandum to the President of India, Ramnath Kovind. When the farmers reach Parliament Street, leaders from major political parties, except the BJP, will address the protest rally.

The leaders to address the rally includes the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Arvind Kejriwal; the NCP chief Sharad Pawar, NC Head Farooq Adullah LJD leader Shard Yadav will speak to the farmers, while the former Prime Minister and JDS supremo, HD Deve Gowda might as well join the farmers by the time they reach Parliament from Ramlila Maidan.

Demands

The protesting farmers are demanding a slew of things including loan waiver higher MSP and passage of two bills, which are already introduced in both Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha. The farmer’s agitation is supported by the left front organisations. It might be recalled that yesterday, Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav also undertook a 26-kilometre protest rally from Bijwasn to Ramlila Maidan, which was joined by farmers from Rajasthan, Haryana and Odhisha. In today’s march, farmers from Gujarat, northeastern states and Tamil Nadu from the south are marching to Parliament.
