Around 69% voter turnout reported in Telangana Polls 2018, rural segments see heavy polling

In the Assembly polls in Telangana held on December 7, 2018 the voter turnout was close to 69%, as per media reports. By and large the election went off well without any major violence. In the capital city of Hyderabad, the voter turnout was around 48% as of 4.00 PM, while Medak constituency logged the highest voter turnout with 75.75% voters casting their votes.

When their names did not figured in the voters list, the irate mob held protest outside the polling booths in suburs of Hyderabad including Jubilee Hills, Chandanagar, Lingampally, Madhapur and Kondapur. Even celebrities had to miss exercising their franchise as the renowned Badminton star, Jwala Gutta had to go back exasperated, when her name did not appear on the voters list. Similarly, K Krishna Prasad, the DGP, Railways and Road Safety too had similar experience and later he took to Twitter and expressed his displeasure in not being able to cast his vote.
