S Shankar directed Rajinikanth, Akshaykumar film, 2.0 makes record collection of Rs.400 crore globally
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is on a winning streak at the box office. The film has earned Rs 400 crore worldwide, leaving behind Fantastic Beasts, reports film industry expert, Ramesh Bala.
Globally, the Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar starer, S Shankar directed, 2.0 has grossed in excess of Rs.400 as per the tweets provided by a slew of industry watchers. The first four days after the movie was released on November 29, expert Ramesh Bala Tweeted: “2.0 collects 52.5 million USD (Rs 367 crore), while Fantastic Beasts made 40.2 million USD (Rs 281 crore) at the ticket window. The whole day, since this morning there were updates on Twitter about the collection records created across the globe. Ramesh Bala Tweeted: November 29-December 2, Interatnational (Outside North America) Top 5.
Highest grossing South Indian movie abroad
In addition to the collection record, another unique aspect was that the movie 2.0 has superseded all other south Indian movies’ collection record ever released.
Ramesh Bala took to Twitter again, “”#2Point0 with $3,588,450 is now 2018’s Highest Grossing South Movie in #USA. It overtakes #Rangasthalam ‘s Life-time gross of $3,513,450.”
What is more, the Rajinikanth movie, 2.0 is also fairing well at the box office in the Indian theatres. According to media reports, the weekend was packed throughout in almost all theatres where the movie was released houseful. Tarn Adarsh Tweeted: “#2Point0 puts up a SUPERB TOTAL in its *extended* opening weekend… Biz on Day 3 and Day 4 specifically was fantastic… Thu 19.50 cr, Fri 17.50 cr, Sat 24 cr, Sun 34 cr. Total: ₹ 95 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version.”
Furthermore, 2.0 had a sedate ticket sales on the second day of the release, but from day 3, the sales momentum picked up like never before. In fact, 2.0 has turned out to be the highest opener of this year by grossing Rs.73.5 crore on the opening day itself, while the Hindi version earned Rs.25 crore on Saturday. At day four, the total collection of 2.0 stands at Rs.136 crore, not accounting the second and third day earnings in Tamil and Telugu versions. A sequel to another Rajinikanth hit Enthiran, 2.0 has AR Rahman composing songs as well as giving excellent background score, not to mention the awesome special effects unparalleled in the annals of Indian cinema.
