The APJ Abdul Kalam National Award will be conferred on Professor Hari Sundar on January 26, 2019 at AGA Ranga Mandir in Bangalore

Professor Hari Sundar Govindaraman, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Contemporary Knowledge Systems at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth has been selected for
APJ Abdul Kalam National Award for Teaching Research and Publications, instituted by the International Institute of Social and Economic Refors Bangalore, the Award will be conferred on Professor Hari Sundar on January 26, 2019 on Republic Day of India at AGA Ranga Mandir in Bangalore. Hari Sundar has also served as Associate Professor at Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Vellore Institute of Technology, Lecturer at TKM Institute of Management and Staff Reporter at The Hindu.

Hari Sudar pursued his post graduation degree in Marketing and Human Resources Management at Anna University, journalism diploma courses from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan as well as Anna University. He went to Chirst Nagar High School in Thiruvananthapuram to finish his schooling. Professor Hari Sundar has in excess of two decades of experience combining industry as well as academics. Rightly so, kick-starting his career as a journalist, Professor Hari Sundar is an excellent writer and he honed his skills to become a prolific writer when he had a stint with The Hindu. In addition to serving various renowned institutions such as TKM Institute of Management, VIT
Business School of VIT University and also in the capacity of guest faculty for AIMA MBA Programme in PSG Institute of Management. What is more, Professor Hari Sundar’s areas of research includes consumer behaviour, more particularly, marketing to kids rural consumer behaviour, prestige brands and management principles from Indian epics.

As an erudite research scholar, Prof Hari Sundar has a slew of awards to his credit including the IMRF Managerial Excellence Award, Management Researcher Award, Shailesh J Mehta Award for Best Research Paper. The academician has also organised a range of training programmes in Case Methodology of Teaching and Case Writing, Innovative Teaching Methods, just to name a few.

A Subject Matter Expert in the Board of Studies of various autonomous institutes in Tamil Nadu, Prof Hari Sundar has also provided consultancy to several firms for the marketing plan development including Sri Krishna Sweets, Pichavaram Mangrove Tourism and more. Holding a PhD Doctorate in Consumer Behaviour – Marketing Management from Anna University, Prof Hari Sundar also has a post graduate degree, MBA in Marketing and Human Resource Management, also from Anna University in addition to MA (Sociology) from the University of Kerala, PG Diploma in Journalism from Bharthiya Vidya Bhavan and BSc (Botony) from the University of Kerala. Also, Prof Hari Sundar has a FDP from IIM Kolkata. His areas of teaching includes consumer behaviour among kids, rural marketing and management principles through Indian texts. Last, but not the least, Prof Hari Sundar is also a passionate musician and has composed several
musical albums.  Prof Hari Sundar has composed music for albums released in several languages such as Malayalam, Sanskrit, Tamil, Manipravalam and Hindi. The compositions included Keerthanas, Bhajan, Classical and semi classical genres. So far, the multi-facted genius has cut many musical albums that includes four volumes rendered by the late Innisai Bhanu Trichy S Ganesh, one album rendered by Rajkumar Bharathi, two albums rendered Madangi Sathyamoorthy, two albums rendered by Mysore GN Nagamani Srinath, one album by Bhavana Radhakrishnan.
