Kathak Maestro Shovana Narayan authored book Indian Theatre Traditions released

Kathak Maestro, Padmashri Shovana Narayan authored book, titled: Indian Theatre Traditions, published by Shubhi Publications depicts multi-dimensional theatrical traditions of India that includes drama, dance and music, folk and classic.

The book Indian Theatre Traditions, authored by Padmashri Shovana Narayan,Kathak Maestro and published by Shubhi Publication was unveiled at Lalit Hotel. This book depicts multi-dimensional theatrical traditions of India that includes drama, dance and music, folk and classical.

The book covers areas such as puppetry, martial arts and the tradition of masks. Further, the book also delves into the roots of various streams of Indian culture including a deep reflection on the applicability of the ancient treatise on dramaturgy, the Natyasastra.

While speaking on the occasion, Shovana Narayan said: “Indian Theatre and Dance Traditions provides a bird’s eye view of our rich cultural heritage and such as philosophy, information on our Classical and Traditional Performing Arts including puppetry and masks, besides providing an insight into the Natyashastra, catering to all sections of readers. I am happy that the book has been published by Shubhi Publications after its initial publication in early 2000s. I am so grateful to Sanjay Arya for his dedication to publications on a much needed area of reference and documentation works on Indian Heritage, Art, Architecture, Culture, Religion and Philosophy and for his immense faith in me.”
