In spite of being from a society where dancing is not considered a career, Kathak Classical Dancer Priyanka Saha worked hard to hone her skills in the performing art form. Always been passionate about Kathak, Priyanka Saha began learning the Classical Performing Art as early as three. At that tender age itself, little Priyanka Saha realised what she wanted and through sheer hard work she must endure to get there. Although, not a great career option in our conservative society,
Priyanka Saha was clear and determined about her choice to master the art of Kathak, come what may.
She worked day and night, learning the nuances of Kathak under the tutelage of Sri Soumik Mukherjee, Sri pranab sanyal, Sri Rama prasad chattapadaya And Smt.Vaswati Misra. Now, after performing in many stages pan India and overseas destinations, Priyanka Saha had won many an accolade and rose throughout the rank reaching the top. Priyanka Saha belongs to the prestigious Lucknow Gharana. Besides being a performer, Priyanka is also a dance teacher and has her own academy by name, Nritangi Dance Academy.
Priyanka passed her fifth year Kathak, fifth year Rabindra Nritya and second year Creative Dance from Sarbabharati Sangeet-o-Saskriti Parishand. She has also been conferred the title: Nritya Visharad. Priyanka Saha has also passed her BA with first class first degree from Rabindra Bharati University and was awarded by the Governor of West Bengal. Subsequently, Priyanka also passed her MA fro the same University.
Priyanka was selected for the Senior National Scholarship by the Union Ministry of Culture New Delhi and she also stood first in the All India Railway Dance Competition Solo in 2010 and third in Kathak Marathon 2010. In addition to that she also stood second in Panschim Banga Rajya Chattra Yuba Utsav in 2006 and fifth in Doverlane Music Conference under Kathak category. Last, but not the least, Priyanka Saha was awarded the Yugal Srimal Scholarship by the Tagore Foundation.
ICCR Tour Programme in South Africa from Padatik Dance Centre, ICCR Tour Programme in Indonesia with Dhawani Group under Smt. Vaswati Misra; also performed at Imphal Festival in 2015; Chakradar Mahotsav in 2014; Kalagora Festival in 2012; Ananya Festival in 2011 and Lucknow Dance Festival in 2010 under the guidance of Smt. Vaswati Misra. She also performed at a programme organised by Indo Occidental Symbiosis at Kalamandir 2011 and 17th International Puri Beach Festival in 2011.
