Video on Ramayana Lalee, Composed by Karthik Hebbar and Choreographed by Indu Venu portrays various episodes in a refreshing context of lullaby
Ramayana Lalee, the awesome dance presentation video, composed by Karthik Hebbar and Choreographed by the renowned Bharatanatyam artist, Indu Venu is a visual treat. The aesthetic interpretation of vivid episodes of Ramayana in a truly refreshing context of lullaby is a new experimentation. Composed and rendered by Karthik in his mellifluous style is pleasing to ears and the performance of Indu Venu is equally pleasing to the eyes. An unique experimentation both in terms of selection of raga and in terms of giving fresh impetus to performing arts of Bharathanatyam.
Indu has interpreted it as the devotee finding the face of deity Rama unusually dull. Nevertheless, she goes on to mention various episodes from Ramayana asking if that was why Rama looked fore-lone and tired. For instance, was his hands aching after lifting the humongous Sivadhanus bow? Was he sad that Manthara and Kaikeyi plotted to exile him? Like that the devotee poses several questions and ultimately, in the end, Indu Venu had used the artistic liberty to tell Rama, “Don’t worry about all the devotees who keep making endless demands for material comforts. Now is the time for you to sleep, everything else can wait.”
Indu says, “This is the beauty of our culture and mythology. It not only allows us the liberty of interpretation but also allows us to pray to our gods in many ways. We have the blessing to even sing lullabies to these Gods and take care of them. Isn’t that a beautiful thought,” she asks. She finally terms it as “Blurring the lines between the Creator and Creation.”
While Karthik is a gifted vocalist and singer, Indu is an exponent of Bharathanatyam runs the Vibhavana Foundation focusing on performing arts and Abhinaya.
