Easy win for India against South Africa in its first campaign in the Hockey World Cup 2018

The first match India in the Hockey World Cup 2018 kick-started with a positive note, as the side led by Manpreet Singh beat South Africa 5-0 in Pool C competition at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odhisha. Right from the word go, the Indian side showed its domination against the South African team at their home turf in all the four quarters.

Hockey World Cup 2018: India beat South Africa 5-0 in its inaugural campaign at Kalinga Stadium, Bubaneswar in Odhisha.

Unsurprisingly, Mandeep Singh opened the account in the tenth minute of the first quarter, while Akashdeep Singh, followed suit in the twelfth minute. With two goals in the same quarter, that too at the very start of the campaign, upset the South African hockey team and having realised their confidence level, the Indian team thrived on scoring three more goals. To put it this way, in fact, the encounter with South Africa was a warm up match for the Indian hockey team, as they will play against Belgium on December 2, 2018 in the second match, which will be followed with India clashing with Canada on December 8.
