As part of corporate social responsibility, the American automaker, Ford has provided a new Figo and Aspire brand vehicles to Neeva Foundation in their apparent efforts to offer training and employment women as drivers.
Choosing just the right social organisation is equally important as offering aid for the social cause. Rightly so, the American automaker, Ford has taken the right decision in terms of choosing the right partner in Neeva Foundation. Formed in 2016, the Foundation is going all out to empower women from underprivileged segment, hand pick them and give them adequate training for them to become professional drivers and thus drive out the unfortunate situations the had to face. What the Foundation does is to identify talented girls from the underprivileged community and train them in driving cars in a professional way and thus providing them employment either part time or full time with TaxShe, a driver-on-call and cab service exclusively for women and children.
What is more, this service is right now available in the metropolises of Delhi, up north and Bangalore, down south of the Vindiyas. TaxShe hires trained women drivers from Neeva Foundation and utilizing them for their business of offering transportation services exclusively for school children and women workers.
While elaborating on the methodology and purpose of the mission, Vandana Suri, the founder and director of TaxShe told The Indian News in an exclusive interview, “We, at TaxShe are committed to bringing safety for women and kids through a pool of professional women drivers, whether as chauffeurs, cabbies or trainers and proud to have Ford India support us in our efforts.”
Also, shedding more light on the effort, Anurag Mehrotra, President and Managing Director of Ford India tells TIN, “At the heart of Ford’s commitment to India are people and communities. It is therefore immensely satisfying to contribute two of our world-class vehicles to Neeva Foundation for a cause that is sure to take people forward and make a positive impact on the society.”
Anurag further added that the initiatives from the Detroit-based Ford fell in line with the automaker’s commitment to facilitate a safe and empowering environment for wome at workplace in the first place and society at large. The event took place at Ford’s second manufacturing plant at Sanand, Gujarat (First plant is located in Chennai), where the site plant manager Anil Patel, along with Kalyan Murugan (Plant Manager), Mehul Trivedi (NMP Chief Engineer) and S Girish, Area Manager of the Paint Shop handed over the vehicles to Neeva Foundation. Sushil Shroff, COO of TaxShe, Arti Singh, Head of the Department, Neeva Mobilization, Delhi, NCR and Monika, HOD of Naveena Training also Delhi, NCR attended the event.
