Renowned Malayalam film maker and screen writer Lenin Rajendran breathed his last in Chennai this evening at the age of 67, apparently due to liver infection. His end came at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai. Beginning his foray into Malayalam film industry back in 1982, Lenin Rajendran carved a niche with his debut cinema, Venal (Summer). After that, Lenin Rajendran never had the misfortune to look back.

Lenin Rajendran went on to make box office hit movies in Malayalam such as Swathi Thirunal, Daivathinte Vikrithikal, Kulam, Rathri Mazha, Makara Manju, just to name a few. Lenin Rajendran’s last directorial venture was in the movie, Edavappathy, which was in 2016. Lenin Rajendran leaves behind, his wife, Dr. Ramani and daughter, Dr. Parvathy and son Gauthaman.

Condoling Lenin Rajedran’s death, Rasool Pookuty, the Oscar winning Sound Designer, tweeted: “Ace Malayalam director who made some inspiring movies #LeninRajendran is no more…such a sad loss! He had so many ideas and we were in sync at many issues concerning Chitranjali Studio…everything left unaccomplished!You will remain in our memories, May your Soul Rest In Peace.”
