The launch of the biography of Polish revolutionary, Rosa Luxemburg, written by the Communist Marxist Party (CMP) General Secretary, CP John happened in Kochi yesterday, coinciding with Rosa Luxemburg’s 100th death anniversary. The book, titled in Malayalam, Rosa Luxemburg Jeevitham Darshanam was formally launched by Prof MK Sanu by handing over a copy to NS Madhavan. Apparently, on January 15, 1919 Rosa Luxemburg was executed.

While speaking at the event, John said, “Capitalism paved the way to a new tool called Propaganda, where skewed information was used effectively to nurture and maintain issues between and within various nation-states, resulting in the formation of a conducive environment for weapons trade and militarism.”

While speaking about Rosa Luxemburg, John said, “In fact, Rosa Luxemburg was the first individual to critically analyse and conclude the last stage of capital accumulation is militarism with respect to nation-states propagates by capitalist forces.”

While appreciating the effort taken by John to introduce Rosa Luxemburg to Malayalees, BS Swathikumar, Chairman of the Reception Committee of CMP Party Congress and Advocate said, “Rosa Luxemburg fought for democratic principles within the Communist parties of her times, setting benchmarks for the functioning of Left collectives across the world.”

According to John, the first half of the book contains Rosa Luxemburg’s biography and the second half consisted of her analysis of Marxist ideologies and issues that were plaguing the Left and society at large during her times. “While Lenin was essentially a nationalist, Rosa Luxemburg thought more on a global scale and she was not one bit afraid of standing up to him on critical issues”, John added.

The book launch was conducted by the Reception Committee of the CMP Party Congress, which is slated to be held from January 27-29 in Kochi. The book is published by Olive Publications with a cover price of Rs.180. The General Convener of CMP, P Rajesh and MA Shahnas, Executive Editor, Olive Publications were present at the event. Shahnas proposed the vote of thanks.
