Mary Kom, Maneka Gandhi flag-off Two-Day HAUSLA-2018 Sports Meet in New Delhi

HAUSLA-2018 Sports Meet New Delhi got off to a rousing start with Mary Kom, Indian Olympic Boxer and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development officially flagging-off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this morning, according to a PIB statement.

Speaking to the aesthetes, Gandhi expressed her happiness at the presence of Mary Kom and termed the boxer as a national treasure. “I appreciate Mary Kom’s presence at the flagging-off ceremony to inspire and motivate the children from CCIs to aim higher like her in their lives.”

While touching upon the safe neighbourhood campaign of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi said, “It is very important that all the parents, teachers and guardians should know that the Government has provided platforms such as ChildLine, e-Box for raising their grievance of any kind pertaining to child sexual abuse and harassment.”

Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, while welcoming the gathering, said: “I have requested the sports authorities to be present at the sports meet so that they can witness the sporting talent of the children from CCIs and if possible provide them a higher platform to perform even better.”

HAUSLA-2018 Sports Meet

The HAUSLA-2018 Sports Meet is an Inter-Child Care Institution Festival, which is witnessing the participation of more than 600 children drawn from CCIs from 16 states in a range of events such as painting competition, athletics meet, football, chess competition and speech writing as part of the festival. Athletics Meet, Chess Competition and Football matches for boys and girls from CCIs are being held today and tomorrow.
