ACC Trust initiates efforts to improve quality of education in India

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the cement major, ACC Limited had initiated a slew of measures in order to improve the quality of education in India. ACC Trust has kick-started the firm’s flagship programme, ACC Vidya Utkarsh, by providing quality reading material such as story books and text books on science and social studies to literary masterpieces to over 123 schools of Chandrapur District in Maharasthra on September 18-19, 2018. The Trust also facilitated a humongous book distribution drive by providing the students of 31,000 new books weighing 28 tonnes, worth Rs.80 lakh. In addition to that, the Trust had also established 29 new libraries at Cluster Resource Centres within Chandrapur District.

In addition to its book distribution endeavour, the Trust had also organised a two-day workshop for headmasters and librarians from the government and private schools to brainstrom on ways to improve the quality of existing libraries and how they could improve reading habits among students. When the seminar got over, all the learnings and suggestions were compiled and handed over to the district administrator for their consideration and action. Through its CSR efforts, ACC is empowering around 65,000 students from 123 schools and 32 colleges in the district.
