Cure Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation of India, and electronic products major Philips are presenting a webinar on Respiratory Care in SMA on August 1, 2020 from 7.00-9.00 PM.
A rare degenerative crippling neuro-muscular disease, SMA is the primary cause of infant death for genetic reasons. Apparently, most of the fatalities happen because of respiratory related complications. Therefore, respiratory care is of paramount importance for the survival of SMA afflicted children. Eminent pediatric pulmonologists from across India are taking part in this webinar.
Moderated by Moumita Ghosh, Director, Event and Family Support and Founder Member of Cure SMA Foundation of India, the panelists who are taking part in this webinar includes Dr. Sanjukta Dey, Consultant Pediatrics Pulmonology, Clinical Director Pediatrics and Neonatology, Peerless Hospital in Kolkatta; Dr. Sagar Waranakar, Consultant Pediatric Pulmunology, Mumbai; Dr. Ilin Kinimi, Consultant Paediatric Pulmonology, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore and Dr. Ankit Parakh, Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine, BLK Super Specialty Hospital, Delhi.
The webinar kicks-starts from 7.00, with the introduction by Moumita Ghosh for five minutes and the following 15 minutes, Dr. Sagar Warankar will speak on the topic of vaccination for SMA children. For another ten minutes, Dr. Sanjukta Dey will give insight on nebulisation best practices, while Dr. Ilin Kinimi will speak on Bipap and Lung Health in SMA for another 15 minutes. The 20 minutes long panel discussion on the topic: Respiratory Care: Type 1,2,3 and 4 will be opened by Moumita Ghosh and after that a ten minutes Philips Bipap and Cough Assist Technical Demo by the Philips Clinical Team will be held. Again, Moumita Ghosh will moderate a Parents interaction session for the next half an hour followed by the vote of thanks proposed by Archana Panda and Aparna Sharma.
