The Karnataka-based Bharatanatyam exponent, Sneha Narayan has received A Grade from Central Dance Audition Board, New Delhi.

The Shimoga, Karnataka-based Bharatanatyam exponent, Sneha Narayan has received A Grade from Central Dance Audition Board, New Delhi. An intimation from Doordharshan Kendra Bangalore, signed by the head, Usha Kini sent to the artist said, “On the outset we would like to thank you for your interest in the Classical Dance Programme of Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore and applying for dance upgradation. We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected by the Central Dance Audition Board New Delhi and placed in ‘A’ Grade in the category of Bharatanatyam, please accept our congratulations.’

A post graduate in Bharatanatyam, Sneha is an em-panelled artiste in ICCR in addition to being the Prof US Krishna Rao Endowment Award and Scholarship holder. She has also won the Young Talented Artiste Award from South Zone Cultural Centre and another award from Aryabata Young Talent. A certified yoga trainer, Sneha is giving training through her own Kalasnehi Trust.

Renowned for her brilliance in dance, her moulded postures, attractive gestures, along with powerful expressions, Sneha makes world of a difference from the rest. What is more, the poised ‘Nruta’ and the ‘Abhinaya’ on stage is a visual treat for the aficionados of this art form.

Right from a tender age, Sneha has had an irrepressible fascination towards art. She received solid support from her family, thus inspiring Sneha to persevere and pursue Bharatanatyam in a big way. Her Bharatanatyam sojourn started under the tutelage of Guru GB Janardhan of Natyataranga Sagar.

She also got trained under Guru P Praveen Kumar, Director of Chitkala School of Dance in Bangalore. At present, Sneha’s depth of expressions and the prowess of performance as a soloist are being honed to bloom out by the renowned gurus, B Bhanumathi and Sheela Chandrashekhar, Directors of Nrutyakalamandiram in Bangalore. Sneha is also a strong puruer of the ‘Nrutta Karanas’ under the able guidance of Dr. Shobha Shashikumar, the exponent of Bharata Nrutya and Prashishya of the great legend, Padmabhushan Dr. Padma Subramaniyan.

With a repertoire of latent and unstinting love and affection from the gurus, Sneha has been able to build the structure of confidence within her on the strong pillars of rigorous training or Sadhana. Furthermore, Sneha has also been able to find her own path which is reflected in her dance choreographs.

Today, with great dedication and perseverance, Sneha has metamorphosed into one of the prime soloists among the younger generation Bharatanatyam artists. Last, but certainly not the least, Sneha has performed all over India and abroad.

That is not all. Also, a Carnatic musicologist under Guru Kalavathi Avadhooth, the knowledge of which extends an added strength for the fine tuning of the nuances of dancing. Sneha’s love for arts is not confined to Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music alone. Apart from that, she is also a certified yoga trainer.

Yoga for Dance is another horizon through which Sneha has been able to train her disciples to build the stamina, which enhances the level of performance. With her perseverance and great attitude, Sneha will scale more heights and look beyond in the coming days.
