The trailer of the forthcoming Bollywood movie, Panga, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and and Kangana Ranawat in the lead is out and is creating waves. This Hindi film is sports drama film, which is produced by Fox Star Studios. After the release of the trailer on December 23, 2019, Panga has elicited 47,532,962 views and counting on YouTube within a short span four days!
Kangana is playing the lead role of national Kabaddi star. The star cast includes Jassi Gill, Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta, Yogya Bhasin and others. The story is based on the flamboyant life aof a Kabaddi player. The story of Panga is written by Nikhil Mehrohtra and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, while the music composition is lend by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Forx Star Studios will bring Panka to the theatres pan India on January 24, 2020.
While speaking about her stellar role in Panga, the lead artist, Kangana Ranaut said: “The story of Panga is very emotional and it has certainly influenced my mind. When the director of Panga, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari narrated the story, I was more than merged with the story. Family is the strength of a woman. The film sends across a subtle message that support and encouragement from the family can give a girl, the much needed confidence to overcome any crisis in her social life. Therefore, Panga is definitely an important movie in my career. My character is that of a national Kabaddi player. Nevertheless, it is a very challenging role.”
The shooting of Panga commenced in November 2018 and completed in July this year. The movie was filmed in various locations including Panaji in Goa, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, in addition to Delhi and Kolkata in West Bengal.
Kangana Ranaut portrays the role of Jaya Nigam, while Jassi Gill comes as Prashant Nigam, Jaya’s husband. Richa Chadda portrays the character of Meenu and Neena Gupta comes as Geeta, Jaya’s mother. Pankaj Tripath enacts the character of Gupta Ji, while Yogya Bhasin comes as Aditya Nigam (Adi), Jaya and Prashant’s son. Rajesh Tailang has greased paint on his face as the National Coach Sinha.
The conception of Panga story was drawn from the life of a national level Kabaddi player. The story develops through the protagonists’ triumphs, struggle and how she overcomes the stereotypes. The message of the movie is emphasising the importance of family support and sends a subtle message that if your daughter who is standing behind the parents, none in the would could take Panga (meaning fued or making a mess) with your daughter.
While elaborating on the nuances of the movie, the Director of Panga, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari said: “I wanted to keep evolving with the stories that speaks about relationships in a new-age Indian family. What is more, Fox Star Studios is exactly in the same space of storytelling and I am filled with gratitude to work with them.”
In fact, Tiwari shared an emotional Instagram video montage of herself, in addition to the presence of Kangana Ranaut, Jassi Gill, Neena Gupta and their families, while announcing the movie on August 21, 2018.
Recently, Ranaut told Mumbai Mirror that when the director told the film’s story, she was completely moved. As Kangana’s family has been her pillar of strength, she added that her family had always stood by her through thick and thin. Kangana could also really relate to the emotions of Panga. In addition to that, Ashwiny is also known for her slice-of-life films and Kangana has loved the director’s recent work in Bareilly Ki Barfi. Kangana also added that Panga would be even more special for her as, for the first time, the actor will be donning the character of a national-level Kabaddi player. “This is obviously a challenging role for me.
